A LITTLE LUCK GOES A LONG WAY
SMALL DRAGON.
GIANT LEAP.
Lucky flew with Crew‑13 as the mission’s zero‑gravity indicator: a tiny, hand-crocheted golden dragon wearing a green four-leaf clover. Once Lucky began floating inside the capsule, the crew knew they had reached the weightless environment of space.
Made by a crew member’s talented sister-in-law, Lucky represents the dragon at the center of the Crew‑13 mission patch—a design honoring the courage and resilience of Apollo 13. The mission reached the International Space Station in roughly eight hours, the quickest US trip to the outpost yet.
“We figured it wouldn't hurt to bring a little of our own luck.”
